The year 2026 begins by stepping into the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the truly good vibes café at Hostel Koti in Rovaniemi, Finland. The Arctic season is at its busiest, and during lunch hour the café fills with people wrapped in their winter gear, stopping by to enjoy a cup of coffee or the generous buffet lunch. I truly love this place.

Large windows open up the corner of the building to the street, creating a cozy meeting point between indoors and outdoors—right where, not long ago, three reindeer casually passed by on their own little city tour.
The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. Inside, four new abstract paintings are now up on display. They are inspired by Lapland nature, each enhanced with a subtle pearl-like shimmer that reflects the light and captures the feeling of the Arctic spring.
Below you’ll find the names and prices of the artworks. I’d love to hear your thoughts on them. If you’re in town, don’t miss the chance to visit this charming café.

It is effortless to paint rapid what one deeply cares for. The unified presence of Lappish light and darkness is a constant source of inspiration. I move freely between realism, classical expression, and abstraction—there are no limits to the arts creations medium, only the feel of the moment.
Lapland endures beyond the blaze of autumn colors, entering a quiet state of anticipation as snow remains until April. Spring arrives in luminosity. Snow inspires to paint.

It is magical under the Arctic light tinted with a pastel titanium white turqoise. Life in Lapland is an artist’s visual super feed. This same daylight is all over this café.

This detail photo of Arctic Spring Snowlight shows thread running across the canvas. Uncontrollable, just like the surface of older snow in Spring.
Darkness arrives early and carries its own creative space. I’m drawn to those moments when light slowly turns into darkness—before night has fully taken over—and to the reverse, when darkness begins to give way to light. When my mind craves a full dose of Nordic white light, I go and spend time on the ice.
The Arctic light and darkness found in nature are a constant source of inspiration for my abstract paintings. Each work carries a subtle shimmer and layered lines, reflecting the shifting balance between shadow and light.
